Hyundai adds HX5+ variant to Venue with extra features at Rs. 9.99 lakhs

Hyundai Motor India has introduced a new HX5+ variant to the second-generation Venue line-up, less than two months after the compact SUV’s latest update. Priced at Rs. 9.99 lakhs (ex-showroom), the HX5+ sits between the HX5 and HX6 trims and is aimed at buyers seeking added features without stepping up to the higher variant.

The HX5+ is offered exclusively with the 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine paired with a 5-speed manual transmission. In terms of pricing, it costs around Rs. 85,000 more than the HX5 while undercutting the HX6 by roughly Rs. 33,000. Alongside this update, Hyundai has also introduced an adjustable driver’s seat on the lower HX4 variant.

Exterior: Select upgrades from the higher trim

Visually, the HX5+ borrows a few elements from the more premium HX6 variant. These include quad-beam LED headlamps and roof rails, which give the SUV a slightly more upmarket appearance. Practical additions such as a rear wiper and washer are also part of the package.

That said, several exterior components are carried over unchanged from the HX5. These include 15-inch steel wheels with covers, faux skid plates at the front and rear and body-coloured door handles and ORVMs. Unlike the HX6, the HX5+ does without blacked-out mirrors and a roof spoiler.

Interior: Focus on everyday convenience

Inside the cabin, the HX5+ adds a few comfort and convenience features over the HX5. A rear sunshade will appeal to rear-seat occupants, while the inclusion of a wireless charging pad reduces cable clutter. The centre console now houses an armrest with integrated storage, enhancing long-distance comfort.

Another useful upgrade is the one-touch up and down function for the driver-side power window, a feature not available on the HX5.

Powertrain: Familiar petrol setup continues

The mechanical package remains unchanged. Power comes from the 1.2-litre four-cylinder ‘Kappa’ petrol engine, producing 83 HP and 115 Nm of torque. This engine is shared across multiple Venue variants and is paired with a 5-speed manual gearbox in the HX5+.

Fuel efficiency is rated at 18.05 km/l under ARAI test cycles, which is identical to other Venue variants using the same engine.

Pricing perspective

With the HX5 priced at Rs. 9.15 lakhs and the HX6 at Rs. 10.43 lakhs (both ex-showroom), the HX5+ positions itself as a middle-ground option. While the HX6 offers additional features such as automatic climate control, split-folding rear seats, a rear parcel tray and a leather-wrapped gear knob, the HX5+ focuses on visible exterior upgrades and practical cabin additions.

For buyers who prioritise improved lighting and everyday usability without stretching to the top variant, the HX5+ could emerge as a balanced choice in the Venue range.
