Indian Motorcycles plans on launching the Indian Challenger along with the full fleet of BS6-compliant motorcycles in India by the end of 2020.

Polaris-owned Indian Motorcycles has struggled to cope with the transition from BS4 to BS6 norms. As a result, they had to delay the launch of the BS6-compliant Indian Challenger and other Indian motorcycles to the end of 2020.

Indian introduced the Indian Challenger globally in October 2019 and it was a completely new offering by the manufacturer. The Challenger features a newly developed V-Twin engine called ‘Power Plus’. The 1769cc motor produces 122 HP and 173.5 Nm of torque via a 6-speed gearbox. It also comes with 3 riding modes.

While the Indian Challenger comes packed with features like LED headlamps, hard-case panniers, electrically adjustable windshield, keyless ignition, cruise control, a 7.0-inch touchscreen display and a 1000W music system with Bluetooth, these features are pretty common in this category of motorcycles.

The Indian Challenger takes on the high-end cruiser motorcycle segment, which includes the Harley Davidson Road Glide range and even the Honda Gold Wing. The Challenger retails at $21,999 in the US (roughly Rs. 16.5 lakhs). With additional taxes in India, we expect it to retail around Rs. 22 lakhs.
