Kawasaki Launches The Updated Z900, Features Revised Styling & Euro5+ Compliant Engine
Kawasaki has updated the Z900 in India. The brand has upgraded the electronics and parts of the middleweight naked sportsbike. Kawasaki prices the Z900 at Rs. 9.52 Lakh (ex-showroom).
Styling
The updated Kawasaki Z900 features revisions to the styling. This includes a new triple-headlight design similar to the smaller Z500, as well as a revised LED tail light design. The frame rails are reshaped to keep the rider’s reach to the ground. However, the Japanese bike has also added cushioning to the seat.
Features
In terms of features, the Z900 features a 5-inch TFT display with Bluetooth connectivity and switchgear from the Ninja 1100SX. The list of electronic aids now includes ride-by-wire, cruise control and bidirectional quickshifter. The 5-axis IMU is also compatible with power modes, riding modes, traction control and dual-channel ABS.
Engine
The Z900 retains the 948cc liquid-cooled 4-cylinder engine that complies with the latest Euro5+ emission norms. It produces 125 HP at 9500 RPM and 98.6 NM of torque at 7700 RPM. The engine mates with a 6-speed gearbox, equipped with a bidirectional quickshifter.
Kawasaki equips the Z900 with electronic throttle valves that enable the ECU to control the volume of air and fuel. This helps to increase the fuel economy by 16%. The reduction in CO₂ emissions is from 132 g/Kg to 117 g/Kg.
Suspension & Braking
The Kawasaki Z900 features 41mm upside-down forks with rebound damping and offers spring preload adjustability in the front. In the rear, there is a Horizontal back-link gas-charged shock setup with rebound damping and adjustable preload. The bike offers wheel travel up to 140mm in the front and 120mm in the rear.
Kawasaki has added radially mounted 4-piston Nissin callipers with a 300mm dual disc braking setup in the front and a 250mm rear disc with revised brake pad material. The middleweight naked sportsbike features Dunlop Sportmax Q5A, wrapped around 5-spoke star-pattern wheels.
Pricing & Market Competition
Kawasaki provides the Z900 in dual-tone shades of matte grey and green, as well as matte grey and red. The Z900 is priced at Rs. 9.52 Lakh (ex-showroom). It competes with the Triumph Street Triple R, Ducati Monster and Honda CB650R.
