Kia Carens Interior Spied
Kia will equip the car with all the necessary features

Kia Carens interior has been spied weeks before the car’s official reveal is set to take place

The interior of Kia India’s upcoming Carens MPV has been spied ahead of the vehicle’s official debut scheduled for 16th December, 2021.

Codenamed KY by Kia insiders, the people carrier is set to go on sale in the last quarter (Q4) of this financial year (FY22).

To be offered in both 6- and 7-seater configurations, the MPV, which Kia claims will have the boldness of an SUV, comes with a modern cabin, if the leaked interior images are anything to go by.

The MPV will have leatherette seat upholstery in top variants

There is a multifunctional steering wheel with chrome scrollers and detailing, a digital instrument cluster, a touchscreen which looks to be an 8-inch unit and modern air-con controls with haptic buttons, on the dashboard.

The carmaker has fitted metallic trim on the dashboard (which does look premium) and there is a storage space and power outlets right below the air-con controls.

Since the images of the Kia Carens spied interior is from the mid-spec variant, the model sports a smaller touchscreen. The top-spec grade should come with a 10.25-inch infotainment screen.

Some of the other features the MPV will be equipped with include the UVO connected car technology, ambient lighting, electrically adjustable driver seat, Android Auto, Apple CarPlay, LED lights, among others.

Kia Carens Spied
It is underpinned by the Seltos’ architecture

This 3-row car will come with both petrol and diesel engine options. While the oil burner will be the tried and tested 1.5-litre mill (115 PS and 250 Nm), which petrol motor the car will sport is not known.

It could well be the turbocharged 1.4-litre unit (140 PS and 242 Nm) rather than the 1.5-litre motor (115 PS and 144 Nm). All engines would come with both manual and automatic transmission choices.

Once launched, the Kia Carens should carve a niche for itself in the market and it could steal some buyers from the SUV market by way of offering more practicality.
