Kia Compact SUV Spied
Spotted with body panels, LED tail lamps and silver roof rails

Kia has been on a roll since the launch of its first product in India, the Seltos being a huge success. The Korean automobile manufacturer is now planning to introduce 2 new vehicles in 2020. While the Kia Carnival premium MPV was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo, the updated BS6 variant will be launched at the 2020 Auto Expo. The brand’s second offering has been spied on test in India.

Kia is geared up to introduce its contender in the hot and extremely competitive, compact SUV segment in India. Based on the Hyundai Venue platform, the car is codenamed as QYi. It is set to debut as a concept at the 2020 Auto Expo.

The new Kia compact SUV will get the signature tiger-nose grille complemented by an aggressive stance. The car has been spotted with body panels, LED tail lamps and silver roof rails. It is expected that the interior will be fully-loaded with features at par with the Venue and the Seltos. It is likely to include a touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, UVO internet connected-car technology along with features such as automatic climate control, wireless phone charger, ventilated seats, cruise control and a sunroof.

The Kia compact SUV will be offered with BS6 compliant versions of the 1.0-litre turbo petrol and the 1.2-litre Kappa petrol engine of the Venue. On the Venue, the 1.0-litre T-GDI offers 125 PS of power and 172 Nm of torque while the Kappa engine develops 83 PS power and 114 Nm torque.

The Kia QYi will get the BS6 compliant 1.5-litre engine from the Seltos which will be re-tuned to offer less power/torque. Transmission options will include manual as well as automatic.

Kia’s new sub 4-metre SUV will rival the Maruti Suzuki Vitara Brezza, Hyundai Venue, Tata Nexon, Ford EcoSport and the Mahindra XUV300. It is expected to be priced around Rs. 7-12 lakhs.
