Kia has revealed the sketches of their first product for the Indian market based on the Kia SP concept.

Kia SP Front Sketch
The compact SUV gets a mature design language

The Kia SP SUV was revealed in its concept form at the 2018 Auto Expo. The Korean automaker’s first product will be launched by the second half of 2019. It is expected to hit the market by July-August. The trial production of the car had commenced in January this year. The car is being manufactured at Kia’s Anantapur facility in Andhra Pradesh.

The sketches reveal a lot about the styling of the new Kia SUV. The design is closely matched to the concept version showcased at the Auto Expo. The front profile gets a dominating signature Tiger nose grille. It will be getting full LED headlamps and tail lamps as you can see in the sketches.

Kia has given it a mix of urban yet rugged styling. There are sharp cuts and creases along with skid plates both at the front and rear accentuated with black cladding. Although the silhouette of the car is similar to Hyundai Creta, Kia has managed to give it a totally different design language.

We expect the carmaker to offer a long list of features including advanced connectivity and safety features. The Kia SP SUV will be competing with the likes of Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster in the Indian market. The pricing of the car is expected to be around Rs. 9-16 lakhs (ex-showroom).

Kia Motors is aggressively working towards their operations across the country and they even plan to export the cars manufactured in India with heavy localisation. The company is expected to have a considerable network of dealerships in India right from the launch. The Korean carmaker aims to cater to the Tier-4 cities as well. Their plant has an annual capacity of 3 lakh units.
