The first car by Kia for the Indian market will be the SP Concept based compact SUV.

Kia Motors has arrived in India and the company will start selling its first car by July-August 2019. The SP2i which is based on the SP Concept that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo is going to be priced between Rs. 9-16 lakhs as stated by Manohar Bhat, Sales & Marketing Head, Kia Motors India.

The compact SUV will rival the Hyundai Creta, Nissan Kicks and Renault Duster/Captur. In fact, it will even share some of its components with the Creta. The vehicle will be manufactured at Kia’s manufacturing facility in Anantapur, Andhra Pradesh.

The automaker started a trial assembly run at the plant just a couple of days back. This manufacturing plant has an annual production capacity of 3 lakh units and it was built in just 15 months.

The company has also stated that they will have a large dealership network right from launch and they will even cater to Tier-4 cities and beyond. They have stated that they want to sell maximum number of cars at the earliest and that the SP2i is inspired by India and will offer everything that Indian customers would want out of a car.
