The 390 Adventure will sport long travel suspension to offer better off-road ability

KTM has confirmed that the 390 Adventure will be launched in India in 2019. The motorcycle will sell alongside the Duke and the RC bikes in India and will pose a threat to the Royal Enfield Himalayan, BMW G310 GS and the Kawasaki Versys-X 300.

The affordable adventure tourer bike segment is witnessing tremendous growth, especially in India. Royal Enfield’s Himalayan will finally have a worthy rival from KTM. A number of manufacturers are showing their interests in making an adventure tourer bike. The BMW G310 GS is expected to be launched in the next month and post that, the Hero XPulse too will see the light of the day.

The upcoming 390 Adventure will draw its lineage from the company’s Rally-Racing history and from the flagship 1290 Super Adventure. It will share its underpinnings like the suspension, brakes, chassis and even the engine with the Duke 390. Likely to come shod with spoke wheels, the bike will be powered by the same 373.3cc single-cylinder, liquid-cooled motor. Power delivery and gear ratios could be retuned on the adventure bike to suit its off-road abilities.

In terms of pricing, the 390 Adventure will command a slight premium over the existing Duke 390. Expect it to be priced at around Rs. 2.85 lakhs (ex-showroom).
