KTM E-Duke Prototype Spotted In The Brand’s Motohall Display In Mattigofen, Austria

KTM’s E-Duke prototype was spotted in the brand’s Motohall display in Mattigofen, Austria. This prototype comes into the spotlight thanks to stunt rider Rok Bagoros. The rider is working closely with the Austrian brand as of present.

The Annual Pierer Mobility Investor presentation in 2022 gave the world a glimpse of the E-Duke. It mentioned that the bike will have a 10 kW motor (nominal power) and a 5.5 kWh battery pack. This should result in thrilling performance numbers and a range of more than 100 Km.

Similarities With 390 Duke

The rolling chassis from the 390 Duke will be used for the E-Duke. Expectations are that the electric Duke will weigh less than the 390 Duke’s 168 Kg. The shared components should include trellis frame, aluminium swingarm, offset rear shock, wheels and the brakes.

A larger hollow section exists where the fuel tank meets the headstock. This serves as an air intake for the battery and electrical cooling.

The E-Duke can also be spotted with a charging cable, signalling the existence of an onboard charger. This similarity aligns with the Bajaj Chetak. The onboard charger will help to solve the issue of carrying bulky charging on the bike with limited space.

Styling

In terms of styling, the E-Duke has sharper bodywork compared to the 390 Duke. The E-Duke features a big fuel tank, aggressive tank shrouds, and a deconstructed headlight. Overall, the E-Duke has a futuristic design language and borrows aspects from bigger bikes like the 990 Duke and 1390 Super Duke.

Notably, there is a MotoGP-inspired air scoop extending under the swing arm and a 3-D printed, cooled seat. These aspects show that the E-Duke is still in the pre-production phase, as these aspects require rigorous testing before being implemented.

Notable Highlights

Keen-eyed observers can spot that the E-Duke prototype features a 4.3-inch TFT display and a wide handlebar. The E-Duke also gets a rear brake lever similar to the one seen in the scooters. This similarity aligns with the Freeride EX-C and electric enduro bikes.

Expectations are that KTM will build the E-Duke for Bajaj in India. This step will ideally keep the price reasonable for the potential buyers.
