We have always seen long drive expeditions happening across the length and breadth of the country and most of the times these drives consist of big and brawny SUVs or even powerful sedans. But have we ever seen an expedition which has electric vehicles? The answer is a big no, at least in India. However, Mahindra seems to be doing something spectacular by kicking off an electric vehicle expedition that consists of 3 units of the e2o.

The Goodness Drive will start from Srinagar, Kashmir and go all the way to Kanyakumari, Tamil Nadu and the drive will cover 5000 kms and 52 locations in a month. What the company is trying to showcase here is the fact that the car is capable on doing long runs over varied road surfaces. The rally also promotes the idea of a zero emission and zero fuel drive which sounds quite interesting. Mahindra is also trying to clear off the myth that electric cars like the e2o have a very short travel range.

If the drive does manage to be successful and gains good publicity, then Mahindra may just hit the bull’s eye and get a lot of people to be interested in the vehicle, which has been selling in really low numbers due to lack of infrastructure for EVs and also the fact that one can get a proper and loaded premium hatchback for the price of the e2o. The Goodness Drive can be tracked on social media using the hashtags #GoodnessDrive and #TheElectricExpedition.

The Mahindra e2o comes with a three-phase induction motor and lithium-ion batteries and has been designed mostly for city driving, it doesn’t come with a clutch. The turning radius is just 3.9-metres and the vehicle comes with a hill-hold feature too. The body panels are made up of ABS and they are scratch-proof and dent-proof. The e2o has a range of 120 kms on a single charge. The vehicle also gets features like electric mirrors, keyless-go, projector headlamps, LED tail lamps, reverse camera and JBL speakers.
