The upcoming compact SUV from Mahindra, which has been codenamed as S101 is likely to get good upmarket interiors along with an option of AMT.

Mahindra S101 Interiors Spied
Mahindra’s EcoSport rival, the S101 will come with a bench seat up front

The upcoming compact SUV from Mahindra has been caught testing time and again. The compact SUV has been codenamed S101 and Mahindra is carrying out rigorous testing of the SUV in different and varied geographical conditions, in order to strike the right balance for both city like and highway conditions. Mahindra knows the secret behind pulling out successful UVs, MUVs and SUVs as well, with Bolero being the reigning champion in terms of sales, as it constantly clocks more than 9000 units over and over every month. The company will surely be hoping the upcoming compact SUV to also be a similar product in terms of hitting out the maximum possible units.

While the interiors of the next generation Bolero have been caught many times with much of its parts borrowed from its elder brother, the XUV500; the same cannot be said about the S101 compact SUV as its interiors have not been spied as often. According to recent interior spy shots, the dashboard of the S101 SUV has been revealed upto quite an extent. The Mahindra compact SUV’s cabin gets a single-piece instrument cluster, with two rectangular shaped AC vents sitting on top of the centre console. The centre console gets a multimedia system with a small screen (which is not present in the mule at the moment), which lies directly above three HVAC controls that are stacked vertically.

The front of the SUV gets a bench seat with the gear lever placed on the bottom end of the dashboard, similar to that of the Datsun GO. Interestingly, the vehicle is testing with an AMT unit which does point towards it being offered in a couple of variants. The S101 will be competing with the likes of the Ford EcoSport, but the vehicle gets more of a hatchback like shape due to its long wheelbase. But overall, the cabin will feel very airy thanks to the big windows.

Mahindra is going all out with its list of planned facelifts and new product launches in India. The company is looking to become the king of the UV segment as they have not been able to taste much success in other segments with products like the Verito and Verito Vibe. The XUV500 will also be getting a facelift soon and the upcoming products from the Nashik based manufacturer will definitely help in increasing its sales considerably.
