Mahindra has confirmed that they will launch an all-new compact SUV by the end of this decade. The vehicle will be based on the X100 platform of the SsangYong Tivoli. However, the company will not simply make a rebadged version and the SUV will look completely different than the Tivoli.

For the vehicle’s design, Mahindra will take inputs from SsangYong, Pininfarina as well as its own Indian division. Not much details about the upcoming car have been revealed but it is expected to come with a lot of features too. However, Mahindra won’t be launching the Tivoli in India.

Talking about the engines, the Mahindra S201 is likely to get a new 1.5-litre petrol unit. It will also get a diesel engine from Mahindra’s existing line-up of engines. The S201 will compete with the likes of the Renault Duster and Hyundai Creta and it will be slotted between the Scorpio and XUV500.
