Mahindra has previously talked about their plans to introduce SsangYong vehicles under the Mahindra brand. The Alturas G4 is the replication of the 4th-generation SsangYong Rexton. It was also mentioned that Mahindra would bring the SsangYong Tivoli to India but had codenamed the product as S201. The compact SUV’s interiors have been revealed, and though the S201 has significant changes made to its exteriors, the interiors stay true to the Tivoli. The S201 is likely to be called Inferno.

Expected to be launched in early 2019, the vehicle houses a lot of features and Mahindra is currently putting the vehicle through the final stage of testing. This will also be the third vehicle added to Mahindra’s product line of vehicles with monocoque chassis.

The 5-seater compact SUV will have comfortable seating space, and there are many features that are added to the vehicle. The dashboard has a black finish for the top layer while the lower part comes with the same beige colour theme like the rest of the cabin. The touchscreen infotainment system comes with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.

Other features that come in the Inferno to assist with the driving are the cruise control, auto dimming IRVM, automatic headlamps, electronically controlled mirrors and rear cameras with parking sensors. To add a finesse to the interiors, the steering wheel is wrapped with leather and the car comes with a sunroof, rear AC controls and more.

The exterior design comes with a new front grille, which takes inspiration from the Alturas G4. The body is coated with black plastic and the Inferno is expected to get 16 or 17-inch wheels. It also comes with rear LED tail lamps and a new bumper and a spoiler. Mahindra is expected to make the model available in dual-tone colours.

The Inferno will derive its power from a 1.2-litre turbocharged petrol engine capable of generating 135 PS of power. The diesel variant will be the same 1.5-litre, BS6 ready engine used by the Marazzo. It can produce 121 BHP of power and 300 Nm of torque. Both variants will come with front-wheel drive configuration and will be made available with both manual and automatic transmission.
