Mahindra Scorpio N Pickup Prototype

Mahindra Scorpio N based pickup truck spotted in heavy camouflage

Mahindra is gearing up to make a significant impact in the lifestyle segment with the much anticipated launch Scorpio N based pickup truck. The truck has been recently spotted testing on Indian roads for the first time. The Indian carmaker has also registered the design patents recently in India.

The Scorpio N pickup is likely to get the same 2.2-litre diesel engine, expected to come with a 6-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed automatic transmission, coupled with 4X4 capability. The camouflaged test mule revealed some differences from the concept, including the absence of a kink in the C-pillar and a more conventional tailgate handle.

Notable differences also include the use of regular halogen bulbs instead of fancy LED tail lights. The circular fuel filler cap, placed behind the rear left wheel arch, deviates from the squarish design seen in the initial patents. However, these details could be used for the prototype and production version’s final styling details might be different.

It is based on a new generation ladder frame platform, which Mahindra claims, is more tough and versatile. They might introduce new features in the truck like Level-2 ADAS, Trailer Sway Mitigation, All-Around Airbag Protection, Drowsy Driver Detection, 5G Connectivity and more.

If priced well in the Indian market, the Mahindra Scorpio N based pickup truck will give Isuzu V-Cross and Toyota Hilux a run for their money. Expected to be launched sometime in 2025. It will be exported to the international markets as well.
