The BS6 compliant Mahindra XUV500 will be available only with a 6-speed manual gearbox.

Mahindra XUV500 Review
The XUV500 will get updated to BS6 ahead of deadline but with missing variants

The race to the BS6 transition deadline is getting fierce. While some cars are not going to make it, some are ready to get updated but with losing out on some features/variants. Mahindra XUV500 is missing out on some variants too with BS6.

The Indian UV maker will update the XUV500 with BS6 compliant 2.2-litre diesel engine. However, Mahindra will no longer offer automatic transmission with the BS6 engine and there will be no AWD variant of the XUV500 with this update.

Power is expected to be the same 155 BHP with the BS6 update. The XUV500 BS6 version is likely to be offered in four variants – W5, W7, W9 and W11. It will only get a 6-speed manual transmission and front-wheel drive variants.

However, these minor omissions of variants won’t make a big difference to the carmaker as they are preparing to introduce the next generation XUV500.

The 2020 Mahindra XUV500 will be launched later this year with an all-new design, new interiors, new features and new engine options. The BS6 updated current gen XUV500 will be a stop gap measure until the new gen SUV arrives.
