Mahindra has added a new entry-level W3 trim to the existing XUV500 line-up.

Mahindra XUV500 Review
The W3 variant gets steel wheels and misses out on fog lamps but projector headlamps are offered

The new entry-level Mahindra XUV500 W3 trim is priced at Rs. 12.23 lakh (ex-showroom, Mumbai). Before the W3 variant, the XUV500 line-up had the W5, W7, W9, W11 and W11 optional variants, where the W5 was priced at Rs. 12.80 lakh (ex-showroom, India). With this price point, the XUV500 W3 rivals the Nexon XZ+ diesel, Maruti Ertiga ZDi, Maruti Vitara Brezza ZDi+, Renault Duster RXS CVT, Nissan Kicks and the Hyundai Creta.

The Mahindra XUV500 W3 is bare basic and misses out on alloy wheels, fog lamps, black cladding, audio system, dual tone interior, push button start, LED DRLs, etc. Some of the features being offered include projector headlights, engine start-stop, power windows, electrically adjustable ORVMs, central locking, disc brakes on all four wheels, and electrically operated dual HVAC. In terms of safety, it comes with dual front airbags and ABS with EBD as standard. The interiors of the W3 variant do not get the soft-touch materials and the seats are wrapped in jacquard fabric upholstery with a plain black colour scheme.

The XUV500 W3 is powered by the same 2.2-litre, four-cylinder, m-Hawk diesel engine that produces 155 BHP and 360 Nm of torque. The engine features eVGT and is also fitted with an engine immobiliser. This engine comes paired with a 6-speed manual transmission.
