Maruti Suzuki CNG sales expected to grow by 30 percent this fiscal year

Maruti Suzuki anticipates a significant surge in the sales of CNG vehicles in the fiscal year 2024-25. According to a senior company official, Maruti Suzuki aims for a remarkable 30 percent increase, projecting sales to reach around 6,00,000 units, up from approximately 4,50,000 units in the previous fiscal year.

The company’s strategy involves offering CNG variants across a range of popular models such as WagonR, Brezza, Dzire and Ertiga in the domestic market. However, challenges in meeting the high demand for Ertiga CNG have been acknowledged, with supply constraints being addressed through capacity expansion initiatives. Maruti Suzuki plans to enhance production capacity by approximately 1,00,000 units per annum at its Manesar plant in Haryana, primarily targeting the Ertiga.

In addition to addressing domestic demand, Maruti Suzuki has set ambitious targets for international sales. The company aims to export around 3,00,000 units in the current financial year, building upon the 2,83,000 units exported in the previous fiscal year.

Regarding future growth plans, Maruti Suzuki is progressing with the construction of a new plant in Kharkhoda, Haryana. The first phase of the project, expected to be operational in 2025, will have an annual production capacity of 2,50,000 units. The company envisions establishing up to four such plants in Kharkhoda, with a total capacity of 1 million units, as part of its ambitious growth trajectory.

Looking ahead, Maruti Suzuki aims to double its annual production capacity to 4 million vehicles by the fiscal year 2030-31.

Just a few days back, Maruti Suzuki introduced the fourth generation Swift in India with new styling, updated interior, more features and a new 1.2-litre Z-Series 3-cylinder petrol engine option. The carmaker will soon introduce CNG variants as well for the new Swift, which is expected to be offered with both manual and AMT gearbox options.
