Maruti Suzuki E Vitara India Debut

Maruti Suzuki outlines major EV rollout & nationwide charging expansion by 2030

Maruti Suzuki India has outlined an expansive electric mobility roadmap that includes launching several new EVs across different segments and creating one of the country’s largest charging networks over the next few years. The company’s first EV, the e Vitara, is set to arrive in 2026, marking the beginning of a broader push into the electric vehicle space.

The automaker aims to establish over 1 lakh charging points by 2030, working in partnership with its nationwide dealer network and 13 charge point operators and aggregators. This initiative is intended to support widespread EV adoption and strengthen Maruti Suzuki’s position as it enters a rapidly expanding market.

Charging Network and Infrastructure

Maruti Suzuki has already installed more than 2000 exclusive charging points across 1100+ cities, covering major EV hubs and inter-city corridors. The company has invested Rs. 250 crore toward charging infrastructure and the development of its ‘E For Me’ app, which enables users to locate and access charging stations.

The company says the rollout is part of a broader effort to ensure customers face minimal range-related concerns and enjoy seamless access to charging facilities. As part of this plan, the brand also intends to train a workforce of 1.5 lakh EV-ready personnel to support sales, service and after-sales operations.

Future EV Line-up

Maruti Suzuki plans to introduce a series of electric vehicles positioned across various body styles and price segments. According to the company, this phased rollout aligns with the long-term strategy of its parent company, Suzuki Motor Corporation.

The announcements were made on the same day the e Vitara received a 5-star Bharat NCAP rating, becoming India’s first electric SUV to secure the top score under the new safety protocol. The rating, Maruti Suzuki says, reinforces its confidence as it prepares for large-scale participation in the EV space.

Maruti Suzuki emphasised that its primary goal is to expand the overall electric vehicle market in India rather than compete solely on model count, aiming to encourage wider acceptance of EVs through infrastructure, service network expansion and customer-focused support.
