The YBA comes with the SmartPlay infotainment system and will come with Bluetooth and navigation with the launch expected at the 2016 Auto Expo.
Maruti Suzuki will be entering the sub 4-metre compact SUV segment next year with the YBA (codename) and the automaker is aggressively testing the model that will take on the likes of Ford EcoSport and Mahindra TUV300 in the segment. In its final phase of testing, the production spec YBA was caught testing with camouflaged exteriors in Shimla, Himachal Pradesh but the production ready interiors were completely revealed on the model.
The spy shots of the 2016 Maruti YBA showcase a clutter-free dashboard design equipped with a touchscreen infotainment unit (SmartPlay unit) taking prominence on the centre console. The all-black cabin gets a multi-function steering wheel along with gloss silver inserts to break the monotony. You also see black fabric upholstered seats and a familiar looking gearshift knob. In fact, several components inside the cabin can be traced back to other Maruti models particularly the Swift.
Furthermore, the 2016 Maruti YBA gets an auto climate control unit with a digital display replacing the conventional dials while there is a storage space below the climate control unit. Lastly, the door handles get finished in chrome while the gloss silver finish extends to the door pads. Coming to the exteriors, the new YBA gets a boxy profile with a wide chrome grille positioned at the front while the double barrel headlights get projector lamps.
You also see more boxy wheel arches, large windows, curved rear windscreen, roof spoiler and wraparound tail lights on the Maruti YBA taking hints from the new generation Vitara. The D-pillar is likely to be blackened out to lend a floating effect. Engine options on the compact SUV will include a 1.2-litre petrol and 1.3-litre diesel while transmission options comprise of a 5-speed manual and possibly a CVT autobox seen on the Baleno. More details are expected in the following weeks with the reveal expected at the 2016 Auto Expo.
