Maserati Grecale Teaser
Compact SUVs are loved all over the world and Maserati has to follow the trend

Maserati has revealed official teaser images of its forthcoming Grecale sporty luxury compact SUV, which are rather hazy.

Based on the underpinnings of the Alfa Romeo Stelvio, this new model will be positioned below the Levante SUV in the Italian luxury carmaker’s lineup.

AImed squarely at the Porsche Macan, which already has a formidable foe in the Stelvio, the Grecale is expected to pile the pressure on the German model.

To be revealed this year, the car is still under development, which is why the official Maserati Grecale teaser images shared by the firm’s Chief Exterior Designer Danilo Tosetti and Head of Design Klaus Busse are intentionally blurry.

A closer look at the teser images show an SUV with a prominet nose with large openings for the intake and ducting, while there is also a splitter, a muscular bonnet apart from LED headlights.

The glass area is notably small (indicating that it is designed to be a fast SUV), while the wheels are large and fill the arches well. Sporting a sloping roofline at the rear, the Grecale also has split tail lamps.

Since it is based on the Stelvio’s platform, the Grecale will be built alongside the SUV in Cassino, Italy. Expect the powertrains to also mirror that of the Alfa Romeo SUV, including the stonking twin-turbocharged V6 which will be offered in the most sportiest version of the Grecale.

Also, Maserati had earlier revealed that its new luxury compact SUV will also be available as a fully-electric model, the brand’s first.

Oh yes, in case you are wondering, Grecale is named after a fierce north-east wind in the Mediterranean, in keeping with Maserati’s tradition of naming its cars after winds.
