Mercedes-Benz_C63_AMG_Drift

Currently, the Mercedes C63 AMG boasts a 6.2-litre V8 that produces maximum power output of 457 BHP and 600 Nm of torque coupled with 7G-Tronic automatic transmission with AMG SpeedShift system. The next C63 AMG is going to be replaced by the all-new turbocharged 4.0-litre V8 engine, which is the same engine earmarked for the upcoming Mercedes SLC sports car. This new engine is likely to share the same individual cylinder capacity, bore centre spacing and other tech specs with the turbocharged 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, which is expected to power the Mercedes A45 AMG and Mercedes CLA45 AMG.

According to sources, the 4.0-litre V8 motor can deliver over 450 BHP in its initial tuning stage and is said to be capable of pushing the power output to 600 BHP. Eventually, the new engine will replace the non-turbocharged 5.5-litre V8, which powers the Mercedes SLK55 AMG. The new C63 AMG will not only come with an all-new engine but also offer a choice of rear-wheel drive and four-wheel drive in right hand drive versions, which means we too would get it in India.

Ola Kallenius, AMG head said that they have already downsized to 5.5-litre engines and sophisticated their direct-injection technology. The Mercedes C63 AMG is a direct rival to the BMW M3, which is powered by a 4.0-litre V8 engine churning out 414 BHP and 400 Nm of torque. Let’s see if the next generation downsized C63 AMG manages to retain its grunt in the competition or not. Audi too has a vehicle in this segment, which is not offered in India. The RS6 is the full blow performance version of the A4, while the S4 is a mild performance update to the A4.
