Its raining luxury cars of late

Mercedes-Maybach has introduced the GLS 600 4Matic in India with a price tag of Rs. 2.43 crores (ex-showroom), today.

Globally unveiled at the fag end of 2019, it has taken some time for the luxury SUV to land on the nation’s shores, but, it has arrived nonetheless.

The Bentley Bentayga rival, although Maybach GLS 600 costs considerably less, comes with plentiful unique elements that make it stand out from the horde of luxury SUVs currently on sale in the market.

Be it the 2-tone exterior paint scheme, the generous application of chrome, adaptive headlights and tail lamps, large 22-inch wheels or the retractable Maybach running boards, it is a rather special thing to look at.

The fact that the first Maybach SUV is also a behemoth of a car, measuring 5205 mm long, 2030 mm wide, 1838 mm tall and with a 3135 mm wheelbase, helps matters too.

Trim options in the Maybach GLS 600 include anthracite open pore oak wood trim, brown open pore walnut wood trim, and there are 2 more optional ones too.

It aims to redefine luxury by offering features such as individual rear seats (that can be reclined and pushed back) with leg rest, while there is a rear comfort package, a chauffeur function, Interior lighting, wireless charging and MBUX rear tablet, and more.

Those who think that the Mercedes-Maybach GLS 600 price is a bit shallow can dive into the optional designo equipment list to add even more luxury and technology to the car.

Powering the luxury SUV is a 4.0-litre V8 engine that makes 557 HP and 730 Nm of torque. It gets assisted by a 22 HP electric motor that has a 250 Nm torque rating.

A 9-speed automatic transmission sends the power to all 4 wheels and thanks to that, the SUV can do the 0-100 km/hr sprint in 4.9 seconds, while its top speed is limited to 250 km/hr.

Those with a bad back would appreciate the fact that the Maybach GLS 600 features air suspension with Adaptive Damping System Plus (ADS+) and a dedicated Maybach drive program for the suspension and powertrain.

Moreover, the luxury SUV is fitted with E-Active Body Control tech, and safety features such as 8 airbags, TPMS, Parking Package with 360-degree camera, Electronic Traction System, among others and a driver-assistance package as well.
