MG Hector Review Test Drive
The petrol-DCT variant is seeing more demand than the diesel variant

The MG Hector was launched in India few days back at a price of Rs. 12.18 – 16.88 lakhs (ex-showroom). With this attractive pricing, the SUV got very good response from Indian customers and bookings for the vehicle have surged to cross 15,000 units already.

With so many bookings, the waiting period for the MG Hector has now gone up to 7 months. The SUV is available with petrol as well as diesel engines. The petrol engine can be had with a DCT while a hybrid variant is also on offer. We spoke to a couple of dealerships who mentioned that the petrol-DCT variant is getting the most demand.

After the petrol-DCT, it is the petrol-hybrid variant which is seeing high demand post which is the diesel variant. Waiting period is close to 7 months in certain cities while some dealerships are quoting a waiting period of anywhere between 3-5 months depending on the colour and variant chosen.

The top-end variant is being preferred by most customers because of the connectivity features while the Silver and Red shades are turning out to be quite popular. While the demand currently does seem good, it remains to be seen whether sales continue the same momentum for the longer term or is this just the initial hype. The automaker had stated earlier that they’re targeting monthly sales of about 1500 units of the Hector which translates to 18,000 units a year.
