GM Cruze will be sold in different markets with different names and will be the replacement for the current Nubira, Lacetti, Buick Excelle and Optra. Inspired by Honda’s Civic and Toyota’s Corolla at the rear and Chevrolet Malibu at the front, this new generation Optra is by no means a looker. The alloys seem to be copy pasted from previous generation Optra’s.

It is set to make its global premiere at the Paris Motor Show in October and will be available in Europe from March 2009, followed by North America, Asia and other global markets. The 4600mm long sedan is based on GM’s new Delta 2 platform.

GM hasn’t released any images of the interior but the Cruze features a twin cockpit design. In India the new Optra aka this Cruze will be launched with the same 2.0 liter turbo diesel engine which does duty in the Magnum Diesel. An all-new 6 speed automatic transmission is expected as well.
