Honda currently has a very limited lineup of UVs in India

Honda is about to introduce the new generation City in India. The new model will be sold alongside the 4th generation City. Both will be positioned and targeted towards a different set of audience.

With this, Honda will have a complete lineup of sedans in their portfolio in varying price range. While they have enough sedans on offer, the Japanese carmaker has a limited lineup of SUVs in India.

Honda has confirmed that they will introduce new SUVs in the country. SUVs will be a priority for the company now. They currently only have the WR-V crossover and CR-V SUV on offer.

In order to expand their SUV range, they need to launch a Maruti Vitara Brezza rival and a Hyundai Creta rival. Honda is working on these two SUVs.

The first one to launch will be the Brezza rival. It will be based on the second generation Amaze platform codenamed 2UA. The sub-four metre vehicle is expected to hit the market by 2022.

The second SUV will be a bigger 4.2-4.3 metre vehicle competing with the likes of Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos. This will be launched at a later stage.

Honda has a wide portfolio of SUVs in the international market. They will launch the models more in sync with the Indian market. They recently called off their plans of introducing HR-V in India.
