Tata Motors appears to be preparing the next major update for the Tigor compact sedan following the recent refresh of the Tiago hatchback. Based on an official design patent filed by the company, a new render previews what the updated Tigor could look like when it arrives in showrooms.
The Tigor has traditionally shared its design language and mechanical underpinnings with the Tiago and the upcoming facelift is expected to continue that strategy. The rendered image, developed using the patent drawings as a reference, suggests significant revisions to the sedan’s front-end styling.
The updated model is likely to feature redesigned LED headlamps, revised daytime running lights, a new grille pattern and a reworked front bumper. Several of these elements are expected to mirror those introduced on the recently updated Tiago. The front fascia may also incorporate a camera as part of a 360-degree surround-view system, a feature that has made its way to Tata’s latest passenger vehicles.
While patent images reveal little about the cabin, the facelifted Tigor is expected to receive a substantially refreshed interior. Tata Motors has recently introduced a fabric-textured dashboard treatment on newer products and a similar design theme could find its way into the compact sedan.
Feature upgrades are likely to include a larger free-standing touchscreen infotainment system, a fully digital instrument cluster, a redesigned steering wheel, touch-sensitive climate controls, wireless charging pads and faster USB Type-C charging ports. These additions would help the Tigor remain competitive in an increasingly feature-focused segment.
Under the hood, Tata Motors is expected to retain the existing 1.2-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine with manual and AMT transmission options. The CNG variant is also likely to continue and could gain an AMT gearbox along with steering-mounted paddle shifters. Meanwhile, the Tigor EV is expected to receive updates of its own, potentially sharing the 19.2 kWh and 24 kWh battery pack options currently offered in the Tiago EV. This could allow for a claimed range of up to 285 km, depending on the variant.
There is also speculation that Tata Motors could extend its Battery-as-a-Service (BaaS) programme to the updated Tigor EV, following its introduction on select electric models in the company’s portfolio. However, the automaker has not officially confirmed any details regarding the powertrain lineup, features or launch schedule.
Although Tata Motors is yet to announce a launch date, the facelifted Tigor is expected to make its debut during the festive season later this year.
