Next-Gen Hyundai i20
The third-gen i20 is expected to come by mid-2020

The first generation of the Hyundai i20 made its global debut at the 2008 Paris Motor Show and was launched in India in 2009. This car replaced the Hyundai Getz in India. The premium hatchback was given a complete makeover with Fluidic design and the second-gen i20 was launched in 2014. Now, the next-gen Hyundai i20 is expected to come by mid-2020.

The third-gen i20 is expected to be more spacious, get more premium quality interiors, better equipment and a sunroof on the range topping variants. The powerplant of the car is expected to remain the same 1.4-litre diesel unit and 1.2-litre petrol engine, but these engines will be updated to meet the BS-VI norms of the Indian government.

Presently the Hyundai Elite i20 takes on the likes of the Maruti Baleno, Honda Jazz and Volkswagen Polo. But the scenario of the premium hatchback segment in India is going to change in the coming years as Tata Motors is going to bring in its offering codenamed X45. Now, only time will tell which car out of these will appeal better to the Indian consumers.
