The debut is set for 2020

A new set of spy pictures of the next-gen Hyundai i20 gives away the premium hatchback’s cabin. It confirms that the car will have a digital instrument cluster as well as a sizeable high-set touchscreen infotainment system similar to the one seen on the new Creta (ix25) that recently went on sale in China.

The digital instrument cluster gets two dials, one for the speedometer and one for the RPM around a central area that shows various other parameters of the car. What’s different than the ix25 is that this unit is more rounded and sports more conventional-looking dials. The images also reveal a new multifunction steering wheel seen on other, more recent Hyundai offerings. It also gets an auto climate control unit. The cabin layout looks quite similar to the new Grand i10 Nios.

The new Hyundai i20 will get a dual-clutch automatic gearbox along with a 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine mated to a 7-speed DCT automatic, offered with the Venue. The company will let go of the current 1.4-litre diesel unit and instead introduce a new 1.5-litre oil burner. It is the same as what drives the Kia Seltos but in a lower state of tune. The new i20 rivals the Maruti Suzuki Baleno, Ford Figo and the Honda Jazz in India.
