2021 Mahindra Scorpio Spied
Testing has been underway for a while now

Mahindra is getting ready to launch the 2021 Scorpio by the first quarter of financial year 2021-22. To be an all-new model, the SUV will be based on the Thar’s platform and will sport completely new styling inside and out.

Codenamed Z101, the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio has been spotted on test quite a few times by now, for the carmaker has been working on it for more than a year.

Design-wise, the 2021 Scorpio (likely to be called the Scorpio Sting) will look butch, with new styling overall. It will feature pronounced character lines along the sides and a kink on the rear door, as seen on other modern Mahindra cars.

The lighting elements will also be new, while it will a bit longer and wider, and as a result, offer more space inside. What will not change though is the popular car’s upright stance and its side-hinged tailgate will likely stay too.

Being a model built from the ground up, the 2021 Mahindra Scorpio will also come with a new interior. The dashboard will come with fresh styling and will feature a touchscreen and connectivity options (at least in the top models).

Not all will be new though. The switchgear will be shared with recent Mahindra models. Expect it to be a practical car with decent equipment onboard.

Powering the new Scorpio will be the same set of engines that do duty on the Thar. Thus, a 2.0-litre 150 PS petrol motor and a 2.2-litre 130 PS diesel engine options will be available and so will be the 6-speed manual and auto gearbox choices. Four-wheel-drive will be offered on some variants.
