Oben Electric to launch sub-Rs. 1 lakh e-bike on scalable O100 platform
Bengaluru-based electric vehicle startup Oben Electric has announced the development of its second electric motorcycle, which will be built on a newly designed modular platform called the O100. This upcoming model is expected to be priced below Rs. 1 lakh, signalling the company’s ambition to tap into India’s large 100cc-equivalent commuter motorcycle segment.
The O100 platform is engineered to be modular and scalable, allowing it to support a range of configurations including various battery capacities and motorcycle variants. Oben Electric indicates that this versatility will help the platform cater to a broader spectrum of customers, from cost-conscious commuters to more performance-focused riders. This design approach follows a similar path to the Rorr EZ, which comes in three different battery configurations ranging between 2.6kWh and 4.4kWh.
This new model will sit below the existing Rorr and Rorr EZ motorcycles, which are built on Oben’s earlier ARX platform and are priced between Rs. 90,000 and Rs. 1.5 lakh. The upcoming electric motorcycle is poised to be more accessible, positioning it as a direct competitor to models like the Revolt RV1 and the RV BlazeX.
By targeting the sub-Rs. 1 lakh price segment, Oben aims to attract customers from the 100cc internal combustion engine (ICE) category — a segment that represents around 30% of the Indian two-wheeler market.
As Oben prepares to introduce this new EV, the success of the O100 platform could play a pivotal role in expanding the brand’s market presence and making electric mobility more accessible across India.
