These vehicles contributed to around 76 percent of total car sales in India last month

Utility vehicles (SUVs and MPVs) dominated car sales in October 2021

Topping the car sales chart in October 2021, like it did a month prior was the Maruti Suzuki Alto which registered sales of 17,389 units.

The Maruti Baleno came second, having found 15,573 now homes last month, while the Ertiga (12,923 units) and Wagon R (12,335 units) followed suit.

With top 4 spots in the October 2021 car sales chart occupied by products from Maruti Suzuki, Hyundai’s Venue took the fifth spot by registering sales of 10,554 units and became the best-selling sub-4-metre SUV in the period.

Hyundai’s sister brand Kia India retailed 10,488 units of the Seltos during the same period, and Maruti sold 10,320 units of the Eeco. The Tata Nexon (10,096 units) was not far off either.

Ninth-placed Maruti Swift found 9180 new takers, while the tenth spot in the top 25 car sales chart was occupied by the Tata Punch, a new entrant, which was delivered to 8453 new customers.

The Honda City (3611 units) continues to impress with good sales

Big hitters like the Maruti Dzire (8077 units, 11th position), Vitara Brezza (8032 units, 12th) and Hyundai Creta (6455 units, 13th), did not make it to the top 10 last month.

Notably, the Toyota Innova Crysta (6096 units) did well in October and the Tata Altroz (5128 units) once again managed to beat the Hyundai i20 (4414 units) this past month.

Finally, Mahindra has delivered 3407 units of the petrol-powered XUV700 even though deliveries commenced at the fag end of the month.

In all, Maruti had 10 cars in the top 25 car sales chart, Tata and Hyundai had 4 models each, 3 of Mahindra’s products made it to the list which also had 2 cars from Kia and 1 each from Toyota and Honda.
