Renault is hoping to give the Hyundai Creta a run for its money with the Captur

Back in 2012, Renault launched the Duster in India that sold like hot cakes. The Duster has managed to bring in good volumes to the French carmaker but, off lately, has lost its steam in the Indian market which is why the automaker has decided to bring in another SUV to India, the Captur.

India will be the very first market where the Captur will be sold in a right-hand-drive layout. Renault will launch the SUV in India this festive season. The Renault Captur comes across as a proper crossover with expressive styling and it is loaded with features.

The Captur will underpin the Duster’s M0 platform but will be slotted above the Duster. The crossover will come powered by 1.5-litre petrol and diesel engines. While neither an automatic nor a 4×4 version is expected at launch, they will probably join the range at a later date. Rivalling the Hyundai Creta, the Captur will come with all the bells and whistles like LED headlamps with LED DRLs, contrast roof option, LED tail-lights and a touchscreen infotainment system with navigation and Bluetooth connectivity.

Meanwhile, Renault is also focusing on the network expansion front. It currently has a reach of 300 dealership outlets and 230 service facilities in the country. The company also launched ‘Passion on Wheels’, a fully functional mobile showroom to reach out to the customers in smaller markets and give them an experience of the Renault brand.
