When production at Maruti’s plants are back up, normal order will be restored

The Hyundai Aura topped the compact sedan sales chart for September 2021, for it registered sales of 2862 units. The usual best-seller, the Maruti Dzire (2141 units) came second this time around due to production constraints.

Honda sold 2063 units of its facelifted Amaze this past month and during the same period, Tata shifted 1304 units of the Tigor from its showroom floors.

Overall, the compact sedans registered sales of 8370 units in September which is a reduction in year-on-year (YoY) sales of 66% percent.

C-segment sedan sales in September 2021 was led by the ever popular Honda City which found 3348 new homes. Maruti’s Ciaz came second with 981 units, followed by the Hyundai Verna (879 units).

Skoda Rapid and Volkswagen Vento could only register sales of 473 units and 161 units, respectively, while the Toyota Yaris which was discontinued in the fag end of September did not find any takers.

With a 23 percent degrowth last month, the cars in the segment posted sales of 5842 units.

Hyundai has to do something drastic to beat the Octavia

In the D-segment, the Skoda Octavia once again managed to keep the Hyundai Elantra at bay. The Czech brand’s car found 186 takers last month, while the Korean firm’s product was purchased by 41 people during the same period.

Toyota’s premium products continue to sell decently well

The Skoda Superb, with 210 units sales, was the best-selling premium sedan and trailing the car is the Toyota Camry which found 59 new takers in September.
