Skoda Kamiq to be launched in India next year

The Volkswagen Group has planned a range of new products for the Indian market from both VW and Skoda brands. The Czech carmaker is preparing to launch the Kamiq compact SUV in India next year.

The Skoda Kamiq will compete against the MG Hector, Hyundai Creta and Kia Seltos in the Indian market. The Czech carmaker will showcase the new Kamiq at the 2020 Auto Expo and soon after launch the car with an expected price between Rs. 10-17 lakhs.

Based on the MQB-A0 platform, the compact SUV will come with both petrol and diesel engine options in India with BS6 compliance. The styling is typical Skoda having a signature butterfly grille. The LED DRL and headlight setup is the same as MG Hector and Tata Harrier. The overall design language looks very similar to the Skoda Kodiaq.

The interior layout is minimalistic yet premium. The Kamiq comes with a large floating touchscreen infotainment system. It will also get the connected car tech. Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will be offered along with more connectivity features. The range topping trims will get the Virtual Cockpit, all-digital instrument cluster.

The Skoda Kamiq has scored a five star safety rating at the Euro NCAP crash test. It is equipped with a long list of features including 9 airbags, ABS, EBD, front parking sensors, rear parking sensors, ESP, lane assist, ISOFIX, etc.
