Skoda Kushaq engine details along with other new features officially revealed. The Czech carmaker has confirmed the world premiere of their new compact SUV in March 2021.

The Kushaq is based on the MQB A0 IN platform and is heavily localised in India with up to 95 percent of localisation. It will be manufactured in India for domestic sales as well as exports.

While the styling has not been revealed completely, the camouflaged prototype images reveals the sharp design language of the Kushaq. It comes with a huge signature butterfly grille up font, sleek LED headlights and clamshell type bonnet.

The side profile reveals new sporty looking black wheels along with a strong shoulder line and high roof rails. It has a wheelbase of 2651 mm. While the top angle shot shows nothing on the roof, Skoda is expected to offer panoramic sunroof. The tailgate looks sharp as well and the tail lights are LED units.

Now lets talk about the engines. Skoda has revealed that the Kushaq will be offered with two engine options. The entry level being the 1.0-litre TSI turbo petrol unit which is likely to offer 110 PS and 175 Nm of torque. The other one is a 1.5-litre TSI turbo petrol. It is likely to be the same unit offered in the Karoq producing 150 PS and 250 Nm torque.

Skoda will be offering three engine options – 6-speed manual, 6-speed torque converter automatic and 7-speed DSG. The torque converter is likely to be offered in the 1.0-litre TSI version.

MyŠKODA Connect will be offered for the connected tech features including vehicle diagnosis, security features as well as smartphone connected commands.

Other features confirmed for the Kushaq include automatic climate control, cruise control, rain sensing wipers, auto headlamps, etc.

Some of the safety features include 6 airbags, ESC (standard), Hill-Hold Control and tyre pressure monitoring system.

The Skoda Kushaq will compete against the Hyundai Creta, Kia Seltos, upcoming Volkswagen Taigun, etc.
