The Euro-spec Octavia RS will be imported to India with a 245 BHP motor

The Skoda Octavia RS could make a comeback in India with the RS245 motor that produces 15 BHP more than the outgoing model sold in India. The Octavia RS will now be imported via the CBU route with an RS245 engine that produces 245 BHP and 370 Nm of torque. There is a spike of 20 Nm torque as well, as the CKD model churned out 230 BHP and 350 Nm.

The Octavia RS launched in 2017 was an instant hit among car enthusiasts. Skoda quickly sold the 300 units allocated for India. The company had to get an additional 200 units of the Octavia RS to satiate the customer demand. Sadly, this was the end. After the 500 units sold out, the dealers were asked to stop taking any further bookings of the car.

In recent days, the government has relaxed the import rules of cars. 2500 units of cars can be imported by car manufacturers per annum, without homologation. Skoda is likely to get the 5-seater Karoq SUV via the CBU route and the Octavia RS will follow its footsteps.

Skoda will import the Euro-spec Octavia RS, which means that the car will be 15 mm lower and will get the optional 18-inch rims. It may also feature adjustable dampers and performance modes. On the interiors, the car will come with a 10.25-inch touchscreen that also offers sports view and a digital instrument cluster will also be on the cards.

The CKD unit of the Octavia RS was priced at Rs. 25.48 lakhs (ex-showroom, Delhi). However, the new 245 BHP variant is likely to cross the Rs. 40 lakhs mark as it will be a directly imported CBU unit.
