Skoda Slavia Price
Even the base variants have seen price increment up to Rs. 30,000/-

The price hike is the first for the Skoda Slavia since its launch earlier this year, the sedan also misses out on crucial features

Skoda Slavia has now got a steep price hike up to Rs. 60,000/- since its launch earlier this year. The country’s top-selling C-segment sedan now starts at Rs. 10.99 lakhs for the base Active 1.0 TSI MT and goes up to Rs. 18.39 lakhs for the top-end Style 1.5 TSI AT (all prices, ex-showroom).

The Honda City-rivalling sedan is available in 3 trims and 2 engines mated either to manual or automatic gearboxes. While the base Active and Ambition variants have got a price hike of Rs. 30,000/-, the 1-litre Style variants’ prices have been increased by Rs. 40,000/-.

It’s, however, the top-end 1.5-litre Style variants which have seen the steepest climb in prices. They cost a hefty Rs. 60,000/- more currently.

The Slavia’s prices are now close to that of the Kushaq, which also saw a price hike up to Rs. 70,000/- last month. The top-end Style 1.5 TSI AT’s price is even close to that of the Honda City e:HEV, the pure hybrid sedan with much more sophisticated hardware and battery pack.

In addition to the price hike, Skoda has also cut essential features on the Slavia citing chip shortage and delivery delays.

Skoda Slavia Interior
The 10-inch screen is no longer present

The car has lost its amazing 10-inch infotainment system. In its place, the Czech maker has plonked in an 8-inch unit from Panasonic that misses out on wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. Even the wireless charging facility has been removed.

It is to be noted that Skoda Slavia is now the highest-selling C-segment sedan in the country. Last month, the sedan sold 200 units more than the previous best-seller, Honda City, whose sales dwindled with double-digit de-growth.

Slavia achieved this feat despite many of its variants being much costlier than the City’s respective counterparts. The new Skoda managed these numbers despite not having a diesel engine unlike the City.

It must be seen how the upcoming Volkswagen Virtus is going to be priced. The sedan will be launched on 9th June.
