Japanese manufacturer Suzuki Motorcycle India is working on an EV platform in India. Having said that, the company is yet to reveal whether the EV in question will be a motorcycle or a scooter. Previously in 2018, Suzuki had hinted that an e-scooter platform was in the works and that it would be introduced in India in 2021.

The e-scooter in question is expected to deliver performance in line with 110cc and 125cc models with an India-centric design. However, as per Suzuki, the core module of battery and motor will be common across global platforms. Interestingly, the company is also in talks with Maruti Suzuki to set up the charging infrastructure and plans to make use of the automaker’s large network.

It will be interesting to see Suzuki joining the electric scooter space that has Ather 450, Bajaj Chetak electric, Okinawa i-Praise, etc.
