Suzuki Jimny Lite
This new entry-level variant gets steel wheels and no fog lights

The Suzuki Jimny Lite will appeal to those who think touchscreens are a nuisance

Suzuki has revealed the Jimny Lite, a more affordable variant of the compact off-roader, for overseas markets.

To be built in Japan and first introduced in Australia by August this year, the new entry-level variant of the Jimny misses out on a few features.

Interior
This variant is for those on a tight budget

On the outside, the car will not come with projector headlights, fog lamps and alloy wheels (replaced by steel wheels). It will not have the SmartPlay infotainment system on the inside. Instead, there will be a new 2-DIN audio system.

That said, the Suzuki Jimny Lite will be mechanically very similar to the Sierra variant. Powering the car will be the same 102 HP 1.5-litre petrol motor.

The motor will be mated to a 5-speed manual gearbox and the compact off-roader will, of course, come with 4-wheel drive including low range.

In India, Maruti Suzuki is expected to launch the facelifted 3-door Jimny, which is under development, first and the much talked about 5-door variant will be introduced soon after.
