The 45X is based on the Tata 45X Concept that was showcased at the 2018 Auto Expo.
New cars from Tata Motors will go on sale in India in the year 2019. After the Tata Harrier, the company is expected to introduce a new hatchback which is currently called the 45X and it looks modern just like the other new cars from the company.
The Tata 45X that was spotted clearly shows Tata’s Impact 2.0 design philosophy being followed at the front and the rear of the car. The car is seen rolling on steel wheels but the production version will have alloy options which might also be the biggest in the segment as stated earlier by the company. The car is fully camouflaged which prevents the body lines to be clearly seen.
Interiors of the spotted Tata 45X too look different. There’s a standalone infotainment that sits above the centre-console, kind of like the Mercedes A-Class. Tata has already confirmed to be upping its quality and design and that is apparent from this. The analogue instrument cluster seems to be having digits which are white backlit. The interiors of the test model are blacked out but this will change to a dual-tone colour when the car is officially launched. There will also be customisation options for the upholstery among others for the buyers.
No specific details about the engine options are yet known but we expect them to be more powerful versions of the 1.2-litre petrol and 1.5-litre diesel engines that are currently powering the Tata Nexon. These engines will probably be mated to a six-speed manual transmission along with an option for an automatic transmission. The under development twin-clutch gearbox could be on the cards too.
The production version of the Tata Concept 45X will be competing with the Maruti Baleno and the Hyundai Elite i20, both of which might get a refresh by the time the 45X goes on sale in India in H2 2019.
