Tata Altroz achieves 5-star Bharat NCAP rating for adult and child safety

Tata Motors’ premium hatchback, the Altroz, has secured a 5-star rating in the Bharat New Car Assessment Programme (Bharat NCAP). The model was tested in August 2025 and performed strongly in both adult and child occupant safety categories, positioning it among the safest hatchbacks currently sold in India.

Adult Occupant Safety

The Altroz achieved 29.65 out of 32 points for Adult Occupant Protection (AOP). In the frontal offset deformable barrier test, it scored 15.55 out of 16, reflecting high protection levels for the driver and front passenger. The side impact test recorded 14.11 out of 16, with the structure and footwell rated as stable. Assessments across various body regions indicated adequate to good protection, while pole and side impact tests confirmed complete head protection for adult occupants.

Child Occupant Safety

For Child Occupant Protection (COP), the Altroz posted 44.90 out of 49 points. Test results showed excellent protection for child dummies representing an 18-month-old and a three-year-old, both secured in rearward-facing child seats using ISOFIX mounts with support legs. The hatchback scored full marks in the Child Restraint System (CRS) installation test and nearly perfect results in the dynamic test, underlining its suitability for family safety.

Safety Equipment and Applicability

The variants tested included Altroz Pure CNG MT, CRTV S CNG MT, and ACCOMP S DMT, all featuring dual front airbags, seatbelt pretensioners with load limiters, and Electronic Stability Control (ESC). Additional safety features include pedestrian protection systems, ISOFIX child seat anchors and seatbelt reminders across all variants. Bharat NCAP has confirmed that the rating applies broadly across Altroz petrol, diesel and CNG versions.

With this result, the Altroz becomes the ninth Tata model to be tested by Bharat NCAP and continues the company’s trend of strong crash-test performances.
