Tata Altroz Racer Spotted

Tata Altroz Racer is a performance variant of the hatchback

Tata Altroz Racer spotted testing for the first time. The sporty version of the hatchback was showcased at the 2023 Auto Expo featuring a more powerful engine, more features and sporty styling compared to the regular hatchback.

The prototype spotted here is heavily camouflaged but the engine bay confirms that this is the Racer edition. It will be powered by a 1.2-litre, 3-cylinder, turbo petrol engine borrowed from the Nexon which produces 120 HP and 170 Nm of torque. Compared to the iTurbo version, it produces 10 HP and 30 Nm more.

The concept version revealed a dual tone black and red exterior with the bonnet, roof and alloys painted in black while the rest of the body in red. It also came with white race stripes, big spoiler and shark fin antenna. We can expect more visual tweaks in the production version to differentiate the two better.

Tata Motors showcased the Altroz Racer with a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system and a 7-inch digital instrument cluster. Other features included ventilated seats, wireless charger, air purifier, 6 airbags, etc. The interior came with an all-black upholstery with red contrast stitching.

The Indian carmaker is expected to launch the performance oriented version in the next few months, most likely by early 2024. They were evaluating the launch of the Altroz Racer when they showcased the car at the Auto Expo. Now it seems they are ready to launch the vehicle to pit it against the Hyundai i20 N Line.
