In 2008, Tata Motors acquired Jaguar Land Rover and ever since then, we Indian auto enthusiasts are eagerly waiting for the product of Tata Motors which has JLR technology. The Harrier will be the first product to share considerable tech with Land Rover, specially the platform. The details of the architecture have been revealed officially.

Tata Harrier will be the most advanced SUV from the stable of Tata Motors. This car is made on the Land Rover D8 platform. Renowned global SUVs like Land Rover Discovery Sport and Range Rover Evoque are made on this very platform. Tata has named this monocoque platform as OMEGARC (Optimal Modular Efficient Global Advanced Architecture).

This platform improves the driving dynamics of the car for both on and off-road terrain by optimising the torsional and bending stiffness. There are auxiliary isolation panels in the architecture to keep NVH in check. The Harrier will be extensively made from high strength steel and there are efficiently designed crumple zones for better safety.

Tata has confirmed that 80 percent exterior design of the H5X concept will be carried over to the production car. The Harrier is expected to come with a 2.0-litre diesel engine with 2WD and all-wheel drive layout options. It will also come with both 6-speed manual and automatic transmission options. Launch is confirmed for early 2019.
