Tata Motors increases Sierra production as bookings exceed one lakh units
Tata Motors is increasing production of the Tata Sierra as demand for the recently launched SUV continues to grow across the country. According to the automaker, bookings for the model have crossed the one-lakh mark, prompting efforts to scale up manufacturing and reduce waiting periods for customers.
Deliveries of the Sierra began in mid-January 2026, and the company says more than 14,000 units have already been handed over to customers. Tata Motors indicated that output is being gradually increased across its facilities, with the aim of accelerating deliveries over the coming months.
The company stated that production volumes are being expanded in a phased manner, with teams working closely with suppliers to maintain steady component availability and ensure consistent manufacturing. Tata Motors also noted that customers with confirmed bookings will receive regular updates regarding their delivery timelines as production continues to scale up.
The latest-generation Sierra marked the return of one of Tata Motors’ most recognisable nameplates when it launched in India in late 2025. Positioned in the midsize SUV segment, the model is priced between Rs. 11 lakhs and Rs. 21 lakhs (ex-showroom) and is offered with multiple powertrain options, including naturally aspirated petrol, turbo-petrol and diesel engines paired with manual and automatic transmission choices.
Inside, the SUV features a technology-focused cabin with a triple-screen dashboard layout that includes a 12.3-inch infotainment system, a digital instrument cluster and a passenger display. Other equipment includes a panoramic sunroof, connected-car features, a 360-degree camera, ventilated front seats and Level-2 advanced driver assistance systems.
