Tata Tiago NRG XT will sit below the regular NRG and will command a slightly lower price tag

Tata Motors has teased the Tiago NRG XT, a lower variant of the existing NRG, ahead of India launch. The current Tiago NRG is a crossover-like version of the regular Tiago B-segment hatchback. It has some extra goodies over the regular model.

Built based on the Tiago’s top-end XZ+ trim, the current NRG is sold as 2 variants – manual and automatic with ex-showroom price of Rs. 6.83 lakhs and Rs. 7.38 lakhs respectively.

It comes with body cladding, skid plates (front and rear), roof rails, blacked C-pillars, infinity black roof, 15-inch hyperstyle alloy wheels, and a ground clearance of 181 mm.

Available in 4 exterior colour choices – Cloudy Grey, Fire Red, Foresta Green, and Snow White, the crossover hatch gets charcoal black interior, fabric seats with Deco stitching, body-coloured side air vents, and gear lever surround.

The features on offer include a 7-inch touchscreen, digital instrument cluster, keyless entry, push button start, auto folding ORVMs, rear wiper and defogger, and rear parking camera.

Tata Motors is bringing the Tiago NRG XT, the lower variant, based on customer requests as per the teaser. It will sit below the regular NRG and will be stripped off some features for an aggressive price tag.

It will be powered by the same 1.2-litre petrol engine that churns out 83 HP mated either to a 5-speed manual or AMT gearbox. There will also be an option of CNG as per the current trend in the A and B segments.

This aside, sources said that the company might add more features on the regular Tiago’s XT trim while launching the NRG XT. They could include height-adjustable driver’s seat, rear parcel shelf, vanity mirror on the passenger side, and blacked-out B-pillar.

Sources further said, while the NRG XT will be stripped off some features from the regular NRG, it’s likely to get the same set of updated features as the XT trim of Tiago.
