Tesla has expanded its Model Y lineup in India with the introduction of a new long-wheelbase (LWB) version, priced at Rs. 61.99 lakhs (ex-showroom). The addition broadens the range to three variants, now spanning between Rs. 59.89 lakhs and Rs. 67.89 lakhs.
A key highlight of the new variant is its six-seat configuration, featuring captain seats in the second row and a three-row layout. This makes it the only Model Y currently offered in India with a more family-oriented seating arrangement.
The LWB version also marks the debut of a dual-motor all-wheel drive (AWD) setup for the Model Y in the Indian market. Tesla claims the variant can accelerate from 0-100 km/hr in 5.0 seconds, positioning it as the quickest option in the lineup. It also carries a WLTP-certified driving range of up to 681km, making it the longest-range Model Y available here.
While Tesla India has not officially disclosed detailed technical specifications, the India-spec model is expected to mirror the right-hand-drive version sold in international markets like Australia. Based on that, it is likely to feature an 85kWh battery pack, with estimated outputs of around 514 HP and 590 Nm.
Dimensionally, the long-wheelbase variant stands out with a wheelbase of 3040 mm, which is significantly longer than the standard version. Overall length has increased to 4969 mm, while height has also grown slightly. Width remains unchanged and ground clearance sees a marginal increase. The SUV continues to ride on 19-inch wheels, though with a revised design for this variant.
With this new addition, Tesla appears to be targeting buyers seeking enhanced practicality and space, while also offering improved performance and range within the Model Y lineup.
