The Toyota Etios might not be such a massive success in India but that doesn’t stop the Japanese automaker to export the low cost vehicles to other markets. Toyota will start sending the Etios and Etios Liva to South Africa from March 2012. However, these vehicles which are set to be exported will be slightly different. Toyota will modify the Etios twins to suit the requirements of the South African consumers, with the platform remaining unchanged to take advantage of the low cost of production. Toyota recently recalled the 41000 units of the Etios twins to replace fuel filler hose.

“We are looking at exporting 20,000 units of the Etios series annually. The slowdown in growth, inflationary pressures and high interest rates have not hurt our sales in India,” Hiroshi Nakagawa, Managing Director, Toyota India, said.
