Toyota expands production capacity to meet growing demand

Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced the initiation of three-shift operations to expand production capacity. The Japanese carmaker has added another shift at its manufacturing facility in Bidadi, Bangalore, Karnataka to meet growing market demands.

The move is expected to boost the plant’s production output by more than 30% and cater to the long waiting list of some of their products including the Innova HyCross, UC Hyryder, etc.

This expansion will also lead to an increase in employment opportunities, with a projected rise of nearly 25%. The company plans to leverage its Toyota Technical Training Institute (TTTI), located in the Bidadi plant, to enhance the skill levels of students in advanced technology through training provided by globally certified expert trainers. Last year, the carmaker expanded the capacity of TTTI from 200 to 1200 students.

The Japanese carmaker is also implementing measures to mitigate environmental risks and achieve carbon neutrality targets. One such measure is the Plant Zero CO2 Emissions Challenge, aiming for zero CO2 emissions at manufacturing facilities. Additionally, Toyota is adopting alternative renewable energy sources, with the new shift operation operating solely on 100% renewable energy.
