It will get a new grille and bumper design

Toyota Rumion is scheduled to launch by September in India

Toyota is gearing up to introduce the Rumion MPV in the Indian market, based on the Maruti Ertiga. As part of the Toyota-Suzuki partnership, the Rumion will be the third rebadged Maruti product to be offered by Toyota in India, following the Urban Cruiser and Glanza.

With its launch expected in September this year, the Rumion will be positioned below the Innova line-up. The Rumion is already available in South Africa, closely resembles the Maruti Ertiga in terms of design and features. However, the Indian variant will receive minor styling tweaks to differentiate itself from the Ertiga and bear the distinct Toyota identity.

These tweaks may include a unique grille, exclusive alloy wheel design and Toyota badging. Inside the cabin, the Rumion is likely to share the same layout and equipment as the Maruti Ertiga.

Mechanically, the Toyota Rumion will be powered by the same 1.5-litre petrol engine from the Ertiga, generating 103 HP and 137 Nm of torque. It is expected to be paired with either a 5-speed manual transmission or a 6-speed torque converter automatic.

While the initial launch will offer a petrol variant, there are possibilities of a CNG powertrain option being introduced at a later stage. The Rumion will likely feature a three-row, eight-seater configuration, similar to the Ertiga.

Recently, Maruti Suzuki launched the Invicto based on the Toyota Innova HyCross under the Suzuki-Toyota partnership. The Invicto is the first Toyota product for Maruti Suzuki.
