The next model Toyota will borrow from Maruti Suzuki looks to be the XL6

It is well-known that Toyota will launch more rebadged Maruti cars in India in the future and it looks like the next model, after the Ciaz/Belta of course, set to undergo the rebadging exercise is the XL6.

A fully camouflaged unit of MPV was spotted by us and from the looks of it, only the grille and the alloy wheels have changed, while the body has been untouched.

Is the disguise really necessary?

Based on the Maruti Ertiga, the XL6 is a 6-seat people carrier that has found a strong customer base in the market ever since it was put on sale.

The practical car is powered by a 1462cc petrol motor with mild-hybrid assistance that delivers 103 BHP and 138 Nm of torque. The transmission options include a 5-speed manual and a 4-speed automatic.

Toyota will leave the drivetrain untouched and the Japanese brand is only expected to change the MPV’s interior upholstery and, of course, the manufacturer’s emblem will be swapped too.

The car will likely to look the same as the Maruti XL6

Judging by the way car buyers have responded to the Toyota Glanza and Urban Cruiser, essentially the Maruti Suzuki Baleno and Vitara Brezza, respectively, the Toyota XL6 should bring in more customers to Toyota’s showrooms.

Once the Belta C-segment sedan gets introduced to the market, the Toyota XL6 should follow suit in no time. Until then, expect to see some more spy shots of the car to make their way onto the internet.
